Standards of behaviour

1. Code of conduct - GLA Members

The Code of conduct of the Greater London Authority sets out how GLA Members - the Mayor, Assembly Members and independent members of the Standards Committee - must conduct themselves when performing their functions, and how unacceptable behaviour will be dealt with.

2. Standards Committee

The GLA's Standards Committee is responsible for promotion and maintenance of high standards of conduct by GLA Members. For information about its membership and terms of reference and access to meetings papers, see the Standards Committee.

3. Code of ethics and standards for staff

The Code of ethics and standards for staff lists the standards of behaviour that are expected of GLA staff, and includes whistleblowing and disciplinary and grievance procedures.

4. Code of conduct on the receipt of gifts and hospitality

The GLA has procedures and guidelines for staff and Members on the receipt of gifts and hospitality.

5. Register of Interests

The Mayor and Assembly Members are required to declare their personal interests in the Standing Register of Interests, and declarations are also made and published by members of the Mayoral team and the independent members of the Standards Committee.

6. Tackling fraud and corruption

The Anti-Fraud and Corruption Strategy, Policy and Response Plan covers the GLA's approach to tackling fraud and corruption and managing the associated risks, how suspected fraud should be reported, and how the GLA will respond to and investigate allegations of fraud or corruption.

7. Complaints and comments

There is a procedure for handling general complaints or comments about the GLA - see How was our service?.

A separate procedure is in place to deal with complaints about the conduct of a GLA member - ie the Mayor or an Assembly Member or an independent member of the Standards Committee.
