City Hall - public exhibitions
The GLA has a continuing programme of exhibitions on London-related topics at City Hall. They are open to the public free of charge.
The building has the following exhibition spaces:
- 2nd floor, lobby behind the Assembly Chamber
- Lower ground floor: lower part of ramp from ground floor, Visitor Centre (Photomat area)
and café area
City Hall is open to the public Monday to Thursday 8.30am to 6pm, and Friday
8.30am to 5.30pm. Please see the City

Stiches in Time

Chamber Lobby
Artworks and tapestries from community groups around the Capital detailing their local environment, community and identity.
Traditional Chinese Calligraphy and Painting Exhibition
2 – 19 Feb
Lower Ramp & Cafe
The exhibition features more than 30 artworks created by artists who work
in the traditional Chinese painting and calligraphic styles, and features
landscapes, figures, and scenes from the natural world. The exhibition is
jointly arranged by Beijing Municipal Institute of Culture and History
and Beijing People’s
Association for Friendship with Foreign Countries.
100 Women
15 Feb – 19 Mar
Chamber Lobby
A series of 100 portraits, celebrating women scientists and engineers from all
academic levels at Imperial College London in support of International Women’s
Day. The images illustrate the diversity of women in these disciplines, and
provide a window into their areas of work and motivation. Portraits by
Jackie King, recipient of the ‘UK portrait photographer of the year’ award.
Different Communities
19 – 26 Feb
Lower Ramp & Cafe
Photography and artworks from two different refugee groups that have established
themselves within local communities. Refugee Youth is a charity organization
supporting young people in refugee communities. Iraqi Centre for Integration & Cohesion
(ICIC) is a charity providing support services to Muslim women and Arabic
speaking communities.
London Book Trade
26 Feb – 9 Mar
Lower Ramp
A unique collection of photographic portraits taken of the fascinating characters
and environments that make up the world of London’s book dealing as these
rare and antique books are found, lost, bought, sold but always loved.

Be part of City Hall's exhibition programme
There are three exhibition areas at City Hall available on a free to use basis.
All exhibitions must have a strong London connection and/or reflect the work
of the Mayor of London and/or the Greater London Authority. We welcome applications
from local community organisations and groups. Your exhibition must be fully
curated upon application. Unfortunately there is no funding available for exhibitions.
