Traditional Chinese Calligraphy and Painting Exhibition

Summary:
The exhibition features more than 30 artworks created by artists who work in the traditional Chinese painting and calligraphic styles, and features landscapes, figures, and scenes from the natural world. The exhibition is jointly arranged by Beijing Municipal Institute of Culture and History (BMICH) and Beijing People’s
Association for Friendship with Foreign Countries (BPAFFC).
Maslenitsa
Date: 7th
Time: 1pm – 6pm

Summary: Maslenitsa is a pre-Lent
festival, a Russian
celebration that has survived the Soviet period and has recently experienced
a strong revival in Russia. Say goodbye to winter and welcome spring with
this free family festival on the banks of the River Thames. Read

Vancouver in the Square

Time: 10am-6pm
Location: Trafalgar Square
Summary: Trafalgar Square is to host London's own sporting
extravaganza to mark the opening of the 2010 Winter Olympic and Paralympic
Games in Vancouver. All are welcome to this free event to watch the
stunning opening ceremony of the Games on a giant outdoor screen, and try
out a range of ‘virtual’ winter

Wise Up – Training and Careers Event for Children in Care
Date: 13th
Location:King’s College London,
Waterloo Campus
Summary: An engaging and interactive
event, Wise Up is suitable for young people of all abilities and aspirations
in Year 9. Hosted in partnership with Action for Children and Barnardos this
free event is for young people who are in Local Authority Care. It will provide
information and guidance on a range of careers and training choices. Attendees
will be able to take part in ‘taster’ sessions for different careers,
learn about training and education options, meet the Mayor’s advisors
(and ask questions directly to them!), and take part in fun games and competitions.

Chinese New Year 2010 - Year of the Tiger
Date: 21st
Time: 12 to 6pm
Location: Central London - Trafalgar
Square, Leicester Square, Chinatown and Shaftesbury Avenue
Summary: All are welcome at London's
free events in Chinatown and Trafalgar Square to welcome in the Year of the
Tiger. There will be Chinese arts and entertainment from international and
home-grown artists, and food, firecrackers and fireworks. Read

IV Integrating Cities conference
Europe Enriched: towards a shared vision for migrant integration in European cities

Hosted by the Mayor and organised in cooperation with EUROCTIES and the European Commission, DG Justice, Freedom and Security, the IV Integrating Cities conference will bring together senior politicians, service providers, academics, refugee and migrant community groups and the private sector organisations from across Europe to debate integration of immigrants in urban areas.
