City government
The GLA is the strategic regional authority for London and comprises two bodies – the Mayor and the London Assembly. London is unique in England in having its own elected Assembly and Mayor. The Mayor and the Greater London Authority work with the boroughs and other bodies such as Government Office for London and central government to run the capital. The London boroughs and the Corporation of London are responsible for a wide range of services and are responsible for local government in London, reflecting and meeting the needs of their own particular areas. This section explains the responsibilities of these organisations and how they work with each other. |
