Ronnie Scott's, 8.30pm-3am, open nightly

Londoners know how to have a good time. If you’re planning a weekend in the capital, you can spend your days browsing one of the 300 street markets or visiting one of the 300 museums of galleries (many of which are free). If you want a night on the town you can choose from 6,000 restaurants and cafés and 5,000 pubs and bars.

London is also a sporty city: each year the capital enjoys great international sports events such as the London Marathon, where 30,000 people take part; and Wimbledon which sees people sleeping in the streets in order to support their tennis heroes on court. And Londoners now have the world's most prestigious sporting event, the Olympic and Paralympic Games, to look forward to in 2012. As well as watching sports, more Londoners are getting active themselves, taking advantage of the ever-improving local sports facilities.

This section takes you through all the fun things you can see and do in the city. It also gives you the low-down on where you can see your sports heroes in action and how to go about getting fit yourself.
